Introducing Reflection Beam: an open-weight model for agentic coding on AWS

AWS Machine Learning

Reflection AI’s Beam is an open-weight model for agentic coding and long-horizon tasks. This post shows how to deploy Beam on AWS: start with an Amazon SageMaker JumpStart real-time endpoint, or use Amazon SageMaker HyperPod Inference with JumpStart, SGLang, or vLLM for Kubernetes-native control over distributed GPU infrastructure.

Show HN: Fakeipedia – Wikipedia for worlds that don’t exist

Hacker News · 24 pts · 9 comments

Hi HN! Fakeipedia is an automatic world-building platform which takes an imagined world and makes a whole wiki that you can endlessly explore by clicking red links. I came up with this idea a few months ago after playing around with worldbuilding in Gemini, but I didn’t want to release it until a powerful enough model could do it justice, and I decided that Argon is creative enough to write articles that are worth reading. I was surprised how well it turned out and how engaging some of the writing actually is. If you want to generate an article there is a nominal charge attached ($0.90), which helps cover AI/Stripe costs, and I think I just…

Show HN: Stoke Money – Personal finance app built around a cash flow forecast

Hacker News · 26 pts · 19 comments

Hi HN, I’ve been through many finance tracking apps, starting with Personal Capital, then Monarch, and most recently Copilot. None of them have worked perfectly for my needs. All of these apps tend to model “cash flow” as the net sum of your transactions during a month, yet while credit card charges are reported immediately, they are typically deducted from checking (cash) accounts the following month when the bill is due. As a result, I’ve always had to maintain a separate spreadsheet to track my actual cash flow. These apps also have a huge focus on managing budgets, which has never been for me. My spending is rarely consistent…

Show HN: Things to Do API

Show HN · 7 pts · 2 comments

I built an api/mcp for local events: pop-ups, one-off events, concerts, etc. currently covering the SF bay area. I’ve been building a bunch of consumer apps lately around personalization and recommendation and have had a hard time finding this data in one spot. agents can find useful stuff through tool calls / web search, but slow. you can scrape on demand too, but i wanted a faster data set and couldn’t find an existing provider for the mix of event types I was searching for. the methodology for it is to find influential accounts/posters/etc. and do a fan out across things that they co-post with. mcp: `claude mcp add –transport http…

0.13.13: OpenAI browser tools and Cloud fixes

Browser Use

This release includes the OpenAI browser-tool driver and fixes two integration issues. Handle temporary empty Cloud tab URLs during navigation. Keep screenshots, crops, and pointer coordinates aligned on scaled displays. Provide 18 default browser tools and six optional actions through Browser Use Actor. Support local browsers, Browser Use Cloud, and borrowed browser sessions. Install the openai-tools extra with OpenAI Python 3.31+. OpenAI 3.x uses httpx2; use its DefaultAsyncHttpxClient for custom HTTP clients. Validation: all eleven driver tests pass. Both new regression tests fail on the earlier implementation. Pre-commit, type checks,…

Building trust in AI agents: A production-ready evaluation framework with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore

AWS Machine Learning

Autonomous AI agents fail softly: latency stays flat while answer quality quietly erodes. This post shares a nine-stage evaluation framework, built on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, that catches silent quality regressions across the full agent lifecycle, from first commit to live production.
