Show HN: PaperMono, e-ink fridge magnet shopping list with mobile web page

Hacker News · 20 pts · 4 comments

Fridge magnet shopping list on an M5Stack PaperMono (ESP32-S3, e-ink touchscreen), synced with a phone web app over Wi-Fi. Works offline, ~2,400 lines of C++. This is a great wee device! BLE, Wi-Fi and LoRa on one board makes it flexible for way more than a shopping list, this is just what I built first. This firmware only uses Wi-Fi. Fully vibe-coded with Claude Code, I didn’t hand-write this. I wanted to see how Claude would get on with building something useful for a new hardware device. As it’s stuck to the fridge it’s easy for the family to use, and it’s already being used day to day which I’ll admit is a first for a home built project…

Show HN: OpenAPPA – open-source deterministic guardrails that don’t break agents

Show HN · 18 pts · 7 comments

Hi Hacker News! Matvey, one of the authors, is here. While building enterprise agents, we ran into a problem: the more tools you connect to the AI, the higher the chance it will run out of control and leak sensitive data. Guardrails, in theory, should prevent this, but the situation is worrying: - Non-deterministic guardrails (LLM as a judge, auto modes, etc.) are vulnerable to prompt injections, or they lack knowledge of the data, making them inefficient (~10% data leaks on our benchmarks). - Existing deterministic guardrails (Cedar, OPA, FIDES, Dogwood) require massive case-specific IF-ELSE-like policies and break agents (~59% utility loss…

Show HN: Fusor – Like Vue, but the logic is Rust

Show HN · 6 pts · 1 comments

I’ve been building Fusor. It’s a reactive web framework for Rust where the templates are plain HTML files, so there’s no markup living inside Rust macros like view! or rsx!. The state and logic live in ordinary Rust structs, and the whole app compiles to WASM. It also benefits from Rust type checkers, even for the HTML bindings. The Fusor website is fully built using the framework. It’s all experimental, so I expect breaking changes and lots of refactors. Any feedback is welcome, and so are contributions! The project is pro AI, if you do decide to contribute.

Thinking Less to Simulate Better: Intuitive Prompting Improves LLM Agents Simulating Individual Social Media Reactions, Including Unfamiliar Content

arXiv cs.AI

arXiv:2609.30563v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Platform policies are increasingly tested on artificial users, making agent fidelity important. Yet convincing fake profiles could also manipulate perceived public opinion before elections. Validation has concentrated on agreement with human behaviour and has paid little attention to whether an agent behaves in line with the profile it was given. The present study profiled eight Serbian participants through a questionnaire, a deep interview, and a written self-presentation, recorded their reactions to sixty-eight social media posts, and asked four language models to predict those reactions under…

Atelier: Learning Local Self-Supervised Features for CryoEM Volumes via Hypernetworks

arXiv cs.AI

arXiv:2609.30569v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: CryoEM map interpretation requires features that are spatially localized, consistent across samples, and informative across spatial scales. Most deep learning methods for map annotation extract features from fixed voxel grids. However, implicit neural representations (INRs) are able to model volumetric data as scale-agnostic, coordinate-conditioned functions. INRs are therefore attractive for cryoEM, but fitting a separate INR for each map is too expensive for large-scale feature extraction and produces representations that are not aligned across samples. We introduce Atelier, a self-supervised…
